ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BEING RECRUITED?
CONSIDERATIONS FOR YOUR RECRUITMENT JOURNEY
The Ripcurl staff is here to help
make the recruiting process as easy as possible.
-
First up: Stay focused on your schoolwork. Do the best you can in your academics! College coaches look for not only a stellar athlete, but a stellar student!
-
Check out the NCAA website. Research schools and programs. Get familiar with the division level in which the schools you are interested in participate. D1, D2, D3 programs offer different levels of commitment.
-
Let your club and high school coaches know that you are looking to play at the next level. They can offer advice and be a great reference.
-
Take your SATs and ACTs (multiple times if you would like) and have copies of your transcripts ready to share with college coaches.
-
Start putting together your highlight video. Videos are an important element in highlighting your skills. Videos are often offered for an additional fee at tournaments. When putting together your highlight video, show a range of your abilities and limit it to 2 -3 minutes in length. Utilize Youtube or other free video hosting websites so you can keep the link on your email signature.
-
Always send personal emails to college coaches before tournaments to invite them to watch you play. Remember to provide specifics: your team name, field schedule, your name, number and position. Let your club coach know who you've emailed. Follow back up with college coaches to thank them.
-
College coaches will find you on social media! Keep all social media PG rated - they will absolutely refer to your social media when considering recruits.
-
STAY POSITIVE. WORK HARD. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
